John Naisbitt, a pioneer in the field of content analysis and a former executive
with IBM and Eastman Kodak, will deliver the Keynote Address, focusing on his concept of
"High Tech/High Touch." Called "the biggest idea in business today,"
the High Tech/High Touch theme illustrates the interplay between technology and our
humanity. This powerful speaker will take you into the matrix of technology, artistic,
religious, and economic forces that are unfolding as corporations and individuals enter
the next century.
This years Conferment Ceremony will feature Former First Lady Barbara
Bush. Today, Mrs. Bush continues to serve the public by volunteering for and supporting a
number of charity and humanitarian causeswith family literacy as her number one
cause. In 1990, she helped to develop the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy and
currently serves as honorary chairman of the Foundation. A best-selling author, Mrs.
Bushs autobiography Barbara Bush: A Memoir emphasizes the importance of
family, faith, and friends.
Following the debut of the Societys new National Leadership Institute in
June, National Leadership seminars will now be offered prior to the start of Annual
Meeting each year. This year, Annual Meeting attendees may earn credits toward the NLI
Certificate of Completion by taking part in optional pre-meeting leadership seminars on
Friday, October 20th. Plan to arrive early to learn more about "
Facilitative Leadership Skills," "Practical Management Techniques for Project
Management," and " Effective Communication Skills."
At the close of Annual Meeting, attendees and their guests will come together
for a final celebration of "A Time To Lead" at the "rodeo" style Gala
Celebration Event. Youll enjoy dinner, dancing, and entertainment, and be on hand to
find out which chapters will take home the Societys top national awards! This
years Gala will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2000.
For members who wish to earn the maximum CE credits, the CPCU Society is
offering an optional, half-day workshop on Wednesday morning following the Annual Meeting
& Seminars on "Special Events: Celebration or Crisis? What YOU Need to
Know." From a small town Memorial Day parade to the Superbowl Half-Time Show, all
special events require effective, integrated risk management. Experts will explore risk
management strategies associated with large and small special events, and define the risk
management team. Youll learn how to manage a special event effectively, and hear the
perspectives of various team members, including brokers, underwriters, claims, loss
control, and corporate risk management.
