PHILADELPHIA CHAPTER SOCIAL EVENTS

Every so often, the Chapter endeavors to organize a social event whereby the members can gather in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy each others company, plus have some fun to boot.  The last full fledged social event took place in the summer of 1996 and was a picnic type family gathering with members of the Greater Valley Forge Chapter.  Although lightly attended, everyone had a great time.  We had a series of what was billed as "mini olympic type games" which really consisted of horseshoes, checkers, chess, card games, dodgeball, etc., with a trophy going to the winning Chapter.  The Greater Valley Forge Chapter won the 1996 event but never gave us a chance to recapture the trophy in 1997.  Finally, on June 16, 2000 at the Scholarship Golf Benefit outing, Chapter President Pete Palestina insisted that Greater Valley Forge President Jack Kelly take the trophy to the outing where a winner would be determined for the rights to continue holding the trophy.  Unfortunately, we lost again.  See photos below for the details.

On May 26, 1999 we had a Golf Outing Social with the Greater Valley Forge Chapter at Eagle Lodge.  This first  annual event established a continuing scholorship program in memory of Ernie Gaugler, CPCU and Bob A. Hedges, CPCU for the benefit of undergraduate insurance students at Temple University.  This event is scheduled to take place each year thereafter.  The contact person at the Greater Valley Forge Chapter is Don Martin, CPCU 610-692-0223.  Philadelphia Chapter members may contact Bill Mayo, CPCU 856-489-7038. Photos of the event can be viewed by going to the sidebar link.  The 2001 outing is scheduled for a date to be determined in May or June, 2001 at the Bala Golf Club in Bala Cynwyd, PA.  Click or on the sidebar to get information on the upcoming outing and make reservations.

We are always looking for Socials to plan for each Chapter year which begins July 1st and ends June 30th.  If you are interested inserving on this committee or have any ideas for a viable social, please contact the committee Chairperson Art Hanebury, CPCU at 609-767-5200 x510 or e-mail him by clicking on the linkmailto:ahanebury@aol.com
